I have converted 0.25 x 0.25 gridded daily rainfall data provided by IMD to an Excel format. Now if I want to select rainfall data of some particular district then how many grids should I select?
The number of grids depends on what district you want to select (its latitude and longitude) and your purpose of using the data. If you want to use the data for modeling, you should use geoprocessing tools (in ArcGIS, for example) to define boundary of your interest district, then select the girds which are within the boundary. If you just want to understand the typical characteristics of rainfall in you interested area and the area is not so big, you can take just one grid (normally the centered grid) to analyze.
Kleomenis Kalogeropoulos Sir can you please elaborate a little bit. Because I don't have that much expertise in GIS right now. I am in a learning stage. Just tell me which tool to use for clipping the gridded rainfall data.
