I am very interested in discussing your points; however, I do not understand which are they, perhaps because your first sentence appears incomplete.

I agree that the subject is indeed mesmerizing, but I fail to understand the part that I put in italics. What do you intend to say in relation with SMART? What is the relationship between detailed goals and SMART, the MCDM tool?

In the second sentence, you say "Which of these would able to achieve, already achieved or far to achieve?"

Well, in my opinion all SDGs can be achieved, albeit perhaps not in the near future. Regarding goals already achieved, I think that we should consider this question for each country, since there is a large disparity between advanced and in development countries.

In my opinion, SDGs are of course of worldwide application, but their implementation should be by each country, although the targets are applicable per country, not to everywhere.

Therefore, we have the goals, which are the 17 DGS, but these are mere expressions of wishes, since they do not have a value. They need a target that is aimed to be achieved.

For instance, Goal 8. Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all

The purpose is very clear but imprecise. For instance, how much is economic growth?

How do we know if it is reasonable or not? If we do not have a value, a target, say for instance, 1.5 % GDP/year as a minimum, we cannot measure progress, even if there is one. I believe that this target can be estimated quite accurately in each country, based on a series of parameters and trends.

Do not forget that this increase also has a limit, for we cannot establish a target of say 25%/year in GDP. This target is not a mathematical obtained value, but a reasonable number based in many different aspects, like most important production/export of a country, legislation, import and export taxes, universities, public health, environment, etc., i.e. it is a number that represents a balancing of all intervening areas. And this can be obtained without a doubt.

Now, for a rescannable achievable and feasible target for each goal, we can measure what percentage it has been achieved. Does this sound reasonable? Needless to say, the financial and non-financial resources you mention are part of this balance.

I really appreciated for both insight. As it was a discussion question, putting unfinshied sentence implies there is a something that the writer unwilling to disclouse as he foresight the consequences.

Anyways, as scholars states that goal & objectives are interchangable though the UN broad goals were short of being SMARTER, however these wouldn't be an issue as some goals are good. We shouldn't clap with our two hands that so far a marevelous achievments have been done, especially in the developing countries as people are facing the real challenges than those who are far from the syndrome.

So lets make free for fair and impartial views in which eventually this world at least would be a comfortable place for the coming generations.

Thank you for your answer, however I think that the UN SDGs tries to address the large and varied inequalities our world suffer. At least the SDGs identify the problems and put a target for erach one. This is guide we never had

To solve a problem you need to know it, and in my opinion this is what the UN did.

The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development sets ambitious goals for peace, prosperity and environmental protection, but progress has been slow and uneven. The UN 2023 Water Conference highlighted the critical importance of SDG 6 and the water-related aspects of the other SDGs. Achieving the SDGs by 2030 will require significantly increased financial investments, accelerated implementation, strengthened partnerships, and a whole-of-society approach.

I agree with you, water is at present the most valuable commodity we have, and unfortunatelly, - I wish I am mstaken - the cause of future wars.

We have to care for the water we have at present - since water no future is possible - for instance establishing strong regulations and heavy fines for its misuse. We do not need a swimming pool in each country house, cannot spend water in lithium extraction, or in carwashing. We mus recycle water as we do with many other things, and recycling MUST be mandatory everywhere, especially in luxurious skyscrapers, and factories.

It is time to consider water use very very seriously.

We neded to collect rainwater at city level, storing ii in underground reservoirs and to be used for street clean ning and irrgeation.

As it is a discussion questions, constructive ideas are worthwhile though our bold ideas doesn't have any impact in such big organization UN. I think putting that broad guide shall and must be expected from such organization as it represents and encompasses 193 member countries, staff with best and professional employees that recruited across the nations, highly remunerated at the expense of each nations though advanced countries; like USA contributions have a lion share and in which equally directs this organization .

So to my personal view, we shouldn't give a high credit for putting such plan because let alone such big organization, a small & medium scale firms have tried to set their goals/objectives. As this words ...OK, according to you, what should we do? Nothing?... doesn't make a sense, sorry it should be expected from UN.

I said again, even if the goals are broad and following that it has been put in detail, and also tried to cascade it at national, regional and global level for strategic plan development, action plan and reporting system, it misses strategic management concept of a plan has to be SMARTER.

For instance, the UN goals/objectives tried to be specific(S)in some cases, achievable or attainable(A) & time-bound(T) but it lacks how it can be measurable(M), realistic(R), evaluated(E) and revised(R). From this perspective, especially disregarding the evaluation & revision of a plan would definitely led to a failure of a broad goals as it happens in real cases, and we have to note that we are now at 2024 in which it remains 6 yrs to make realistic such goal. So this is personal view, will not add a value to the users.

I know that SDG have multiple targets and indicators, but I do not know how the resuts of application of the goals are checked.

In my activity this is one of the aspects I am working on, i.e., how to measure and evaluate results, using MCDM methods like SIMUS.

I would be happy to share with you my findings, which by the way, were published years ago in one of my books.

What I can do is share experiences, and I can explain how these measuring targets can be scientifically performed by the SIMUS method and even send to its software which is free world-wide

What is the way forward with these goals. I don't think much has been done since the inception of the SDGs in 2015 and the goals is towards 2030 goals attainment.
