I'm studying for my Msc in Artificial Intelligence, for my dissertation I've decided I would like to try and find some problems that the NHS is facing due to the cuts. The problem is I do not know much about the NHS which leads me to question myself "how to discover a good enough topic to tackle for my dissertation?".
Where could i find some good quality information from doctors about there needs with out taking up there time?. I have checked out data.gov.uk and ons.gov.uk which are both fantastic resources but without a clear direction for what my title is they are wasted.
how would you go about finding a relevent problem facing the NHS? weather its a single hospital or a problem that can be applied to hospitals what evere the subject staff/patient-management/time-management/prediction?
NHS has a huge human resource problem, and data are available publicly fo this.
NHS has been recruiting ("importing") qualified nurses and doctors from countries where:
-medical studies are heavily subsidised by the local government (taxpayers)
[UK medical studies are costly in comparison, no or less government subsidy]
-salaries paid are lower than UK.
Such countries include Spain, Italy, Portugal, Central and Easter Europe, etc...
Now the trend of hiring "freely trained" qualified staff is less easy, because Brexit is coming so a nurse or a doctor hesitates to immigrate to a country less welcoming for foreigners.
I read that 3000 nurses/year leave the NHS.
The subject above requires good modeling skills, interest for health economics, employment economics, foreign exchange, international relations.
