Both are complementary, no doubt about that! In the academic and scientific world far more serious information is shared via twitter. Facebook seems to be lighter, in this respect.
My dear @Jesus, I do have both accounts, twitter: jacic012 and facebook: ljubomir jacic! I am not so often present there with posts. I do use twitter mainly for fast political information, for news, as facebook is related to friends and fun. There are some serious scientific groups at facebook also!
I'm on Facebook and not on Twitter. I found lot of interesting and inspiring sources for learning and lot of news from all over the world. Besides I like online techologies a lot and enjoy conversations, thinking that various people are much inspiring. Also I have there more private contacts with colleagues from professional environments and can chat with friends from different phases of my life, even from primary school. I agree with Ljubomir, there are also serious grups on FB.
I prefer both, because I can read and analyze interesting information from all over the world.Facebook is more comfortable for working, for communication, for uploading. There are a lot of illustrative materials, useful for my work in Facebook.
I too feel the same, that both these network sites are of lesser relevance and lighter in content share. At times its more of fun and also has more options for misuse and negative consequences.
I prefer Facebook. Twitter isn't popular in my country. It’s more effective, and more convenient. It's more vivid form than Twitter because of instant interaction.
Only RG is for learning and valuable communication.I use Facebook and Twitter, wishing to find interesting information, too.Vimeo and Youtube are for listening music and watching news and films.Useful social nets contain a lot of materials for students.
As I have mentioned in my previous answer about my accounts at FB and Twitter, I do also use LinkedIN sometimes, where I do have an account also. The most of the time regarding social networks, I do spend at ResearchGate. Tabs for other social networks are always active, just for case.
Usually, users of social media portals use these portals in a variety of ways, including the time devoted to a given social media portal. How much time internet users devote to particular portals is determined by many factors related to citizens' preferences regarding the expected Internet information services as well as technical characteristics, editorial capabilities, etc. of individual social media portals.
Recently, I rarely look at both Facebook and the Tweeter. However, it is difficult to answer the question which of these social media portals is better because they are incomparable. They differ significantly on many issues and, most importantly, on the possibility of graphic layout of inserted posts and limitations on the volume of text entered in posts and comments.
