Could we apply chevron bracing technique ? As a damping mechanism for tunnel-forms RC tall buildings.
thanks for your replay "Benjamin Bondsman", the case is for existing RC medium rise Building, the damping will be implement through either hydraulic cylinders (viscos damping), BRB struts or rotational friction plates (attached pictures). this question arises as existing building lack the sufficient strength against lateral drift among other structural deficiencies. So it is possible to implement or change direction with different set of mind ?
"great degree of lateral stiffness and resistance to lateral drift" this sentence is quite reassuring. but the building already lacking the proper concrete strength !!

"The potential of applying chevron bracing as a damping mechanism for tunnel-forms RC tall buildings is promising", this answer is much assuring and wellputt. Iam doing a structural research on this subject and will provide the results of drift enhancement soon.
There are many things that can be done well, but if you don't have the core geological knowledge, then, not sure how the best invention can work well... I would have ideas, but I am not an architect. And I'm not paid to share that information for free.
