Due to a fact that the construction industry has low efficiency levels, relatively poor profit margins, and problems with quality in context to other industries. As per the new information age the way organizations work or carry out business is competently changed and continues to change. The expanding interest for quality, services and on-time delivery of ventures at lower costs to clients, and difficulty involved in modern construction projects and globalization are driving to changes in the procedures and services delivered. My question is, to what extent can the use of IT technologies revolutionize the construction industry in the future, and what more could be expected to ease the functioning of industry?
i think the modern constructions can not complete without using modern technology in some / all Stages.
It can ease the work flow in all the stages and minimize the efforts spent by humans. However, the current practices doesn't have a standardized workflow for implementation of IT and has created problems in IT adoptions to a great extent.

The impact of IT on the 'work flow" of construction industry is subject to the use of the IT deployed (Strategic - that could lead to gaining competitive advance and increase profit; or Operational - that may add marginal increase in efficiency - with resultan increase in profit but not necessary market share)

I think IT services in the construction industry (e.g. contract management tools, BIM, advanced planning software) are offering a huge potential for the increase of Quality, Asset Performance, Durability, Project Control, Construction Site Safety, etc. From my working experience I have however noticed that the limitations in the improvement and stimulation of the aforementioned aspects are not IT-related, but are mostly related to benevolence. Or the lack of. The construction industry is naturally very conservative. Changes in workflow and project culture are therefore hard to realize. Before solving the question above, the potential added benefit of IT in construction projects, I think it as also interesting to analyze the factors that prevent that benefit from being implemented.
