If the temperature drop is heavy means it may lead to surge of the compressor...which is not advisable

They exist different thermodynamic techniques for power augmentation. Reducing the inlet temperature to ISO condition (about 15 degree centigrade) will reduce compressor work boost output and thus efficiency. However, if the temperature is below ISO, this will lead to icing in the compressor and eventually surge. So methods of efficiency improvement has design or technological limitations
