I have prepared carbon nanodots by using natural precursor as carbon sources. now for the determination of concentration of prepared soluble carbon nanodots what can I do? as earlier mentioned in other answers, that it can be measured by solidifying the material I have prepared. which method I can use to solidify soluble carbon nanodots?
Dear Urvi Lad , first of all, you should purify the as synthesized carbon dots using a proper dialysis membrane with suitable permeability. Then, you can dry your sample at room temperature using a vacuum dessicator. Transfer the CDs dispersion into a big petri dish and put it in the vacuum dessicator in which there is dried silicagel as water adsorbent. By using a conventional rough pump, it takes two or three days till the carbon dots get dried completely. Eventually, you will get a thin film of CDs which can be dispersed in water readily. Although the above procedure works out well, you may also dry the purified CDs using a rotary evaporator at your desired temperature. Please not, if you increase the temperature, it may impact the chemical structure and in turn the physical properties of the CDs as a consequence of losing some oxygen content. So, try to do it at ambient temperature to obtain the best possible quality.
