Hi All:

I have a question on the critical energy release rate (Gc) of viscoelastic materials. Viscoelastic materials can have a time dependent critical energy release rate Gc(t). Time dependence of Gc(t) is known/reported only for a few materials - Gc decays over time.

Suppose I have two viscoelastic materials and I know one is more compliant than the other, i.e. in creep (strain vs time) one undergoes higher strain than the other. Can I predict the relative evolution of critical energy release rate of the two, i.e. Gc(t) of which material will decay faster?

Hoping some comments on this issue,

Thanks a lot in advance,

Thomas
