Giuseppe, this is an interesting topic ,recently, the Kenyan Anti-corruption authority launched a bible study prog. to help fight corruption. will it work? how? i thought it was Balderdash, but now that i see you working on an almost similar topic, i am keen to follow.

I asked myself, is this another religious ostrich approach or its something practical? especially owing to the fact that at least a 3/4 of politicians in Kenya are Christians and consistent church going personalities.

The idea is not wrong. The religious proposals are inserted in the heart of the people. In 1891 Pope Leon XIII promulgated the encyclical "Rerum Novarum" which is the foundation of what is now known as the Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church. Its principles are: the common good, the dignity of the person, solidarity and subsidiarity. All these point against corruption.
Yes this is highly feasible, lack of knowledge gets people into corruption and finally destroy them, the Bible will give them deeper understanding of their actions and consequences and if they now see how deprave their hearts are from the Truth, then they can seek for Salvation and deliverance from the hands of the manipulator, who is the devil
Interesting approach! Who are the people involved in the Bible Study and what is their relationship to the Bible? Who designed the Bible Study?
Jorge, in my opinion, religion is that cave that humans tend to hide their "beasts" and only lasts a short while before the beast outgrows the cave. It is not like politicians in Kenya and Uganda do not know Religion, they do .In most African families, people are brought up identifying themselves with a particular religion and specific denomination, they grow up knowing church and Christian teachings. it would be interesting to note that Most African politicians actually are very strong in the church, even give tithes from one hand YET commit atrocities on the other hand .
I am still interested in knowing even the hypothesis of this study, but mostly the research methodology and References.
Please note , i am christian, Catholic but from my experience , use of religion to appeal to the conscience of a politician is like trying to catch a cloud and pin it down.

The Word can only have impact if the change take place from within the inner man, the heart. As the Bible says the heart of man is desperately wicked. and as it is written, who so ever commit sin is of the devil, for this purpose, the Son of God was revealed, that He might destroy the works of the devil. So people can pay tithe and participate in church activity without truly being born again, for it is written, who so ever is born of God cannot sin. And it is also written, verily verily i say unto you, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.

The intrinsic nature of religion can be liberating and hence help in the ethical and moral formation of the politicians, however those responding to it might manipulate it for their own corruptive ends!

The Social Doctrine of the Catholic Church is not a research work, it is the fruit of the effort made by the Bishops in communion with Pope Leon XII (Magisterium of the Church) to respond to any social conflict known in 1891 (times of the Industrial Revolution) and that over time has been updated to the extent that the needs of our temporal reality have required it. The principles of the common good, the dignity of the human person, solidarity and subsidiarity have never been lost validity since they have their foundation in the Gospel.
In some ideas I agree with you. Some rulers still belonging to some religion can be much less religious than they say they are, especially in works (corruption). However, that is not proper to the rulers, it is natural for any human being who has not internalized and made the Christian message his own.
But, that a governor has made public a call to his people to put as a possible solution to corruption the Christian message is a great opportunity.
But, it is an obligation as Catholics to evangelize. (See Pope Francis' last encyclical "A call to holiness")
I think the current situation in Venezuela (I am Venezuelan) is not secret. Maybe different culture but our circumstances are the same or differ in mode, however I think it is the best time to land very spiritual Christian messages in social messages.
