Some institutions and research funding agencies have taken positions against multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary studies. Such agencies reject researches and conferences that are multidisciplinary . One of their grounds is the supposed lack of focus, rigour and depth in such academic fora. Papers that have this nature are also second classed. Have you come across this bias? Do you think such agencies are justified?
The world of research is now revolving round inter and multi-disciplinary studies. Most researches now tend to solve human challenges which are multi-dimensional in nature. If you are to solve a water problem for a community, you need virtually everyone on board [engineers, architects, managers, accountants, chemists etc]. Multi-disciplinary researches are more robust, have depths, come with far and reaching solutions and more credible in most cases

I think this is incorrect to do so. Multi-disciplinarity and inter-disciplinarity brings about extra dimensions with mono disciplinary research lacks. They bring research into the reality of life in which issues are looked at and studied in realistic settings
