1) If in your experience they turned out useful, effective and efficient means of dissemination?

A: Yes, infographics are useful, effective and efficient way of assisting knowledge transfer and impact of your research. They will increase readership. We have had massive altmetric scores with these papers illustrating wide interest.

2) What audiences were mostly reached with infographics?

A: I think infographics now go out to all audiences. Some journals (BJSM) will publish a infogram with every paper.

3) What are your criteria that you use to evaluate an impact / usefulness of infographics? We have used Altmetric scores to evaluate, see paper. Altmetrics! Can you afford to ignore it? Article Altmetrics! Can you afford to ignore it?

Infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present information quickly and clearly. They can improve cognition by utilizing graphics to enhance the human visual system's ability to see patterns and trends.

yes, because infographics deliver the message through images, and this can facilitate people from outside my field of studies to understand better my research topic.

With a good infographic, even people from outside academia are able to understand a science topic, so I would say, all kind of audience.

The level of information and how much someone understands it from my infographic are good criteria. If it is confusing and not clear the infographic message, is NOT a successful infographic. If it is clear, organized, and able to tell a story, it IS a successful infographic.

Dear Bruna Soldera many thanks for your reply. I largely share your views, but maybe I am expecting too much of the impact measurement...? Ad. 3. Who's to tell? It's what A. Cairo said in his book "How charts lie?" - there is a level of data viz/chart literacy necessary to digest data viz. In my organisation I have come across colleagues (who are sometimes very critical of the infographics, but at the same time they know very little about infographics and their opinions are based purely on individual taste... That surely is not a good measurement of how efficient/good an infographic is. To sieve constructive feedback from mere opinions I have started to apply a principle that the feedback should contain specific recommendations on what and why to correct some element/story/visual and possibly give ideas about the outcome of the change (what should it look like).
