Abstract
The practical model of Islamic counseling is acircular (or spiral) model not
a linear model. In general, it is assumed that when one stage is completed, the
client will move on to the next stage. While this is a possibility, it is more likely
that the client may go through several cycles of reflection (Qafnah).
Contemplation (Tafakkur) and vision of goals and routes (Basirah) before
achieving action (Amal) or exiting the system without achieving the desired and
permitted doals. The purpose of this approach is to analyze the main concepts and
philosopihies, objectives, fucctions and roles of the counselor, the counselee’s
experience in counseling, the relationship between the counselor and the
counselee in the practical model of Islamic counseling on the study of the work of
G.Hussein Rassool. Research qualitative descriptive, using hermeneutic analiysis
technique from Ricouer, where the first stage is sematic, second is reflective, and
the third stage is interpretation. The result show that the practical model of
Islamic-based counseling has been widely recognized to be able to handle various
psicological disorders. Practical Islamic counseling needs to modify it in a
spiritual way based on Islamic values according to the needs of the counselee.
