All right. It's a good question, and I can share my personal approach. After a research project is completed, there is a clear understanding of what is really new. However, it is not in a final write up form yet, but just a collection of experimental and / or theoretical data, some calculations, working journals, notes, etc.

First of my concern is to write a detailed logical description of the essence of the received results without any regards on rules, formats, size, and style. I am writing it for myself trying to check all assumptions, assessments, logical steps, and clarity of the methods, conclusions, logical transitions, analogies, etc.

The reason is in reaching three goals. The first, I want to check as to what extent my text is convincing and where are the weak points and loose ends. The second one, I am trying to look at the entire essence of the new stuff from a possible alternative view point to assess possible farther research steps viability and justification. The third thing, this write up allows to keep in memory all intricate details, the Ariadne's thread allowing to quickly refresh in memory all intricate details of the research results and the right sequence of thoughts, no matter how much time have passed since the end of the project.

Needless to say that most of logic and data flow, and discussions get into a final article draft with insignificant modifications and corrections. It may seem like a certain overload, but I used to this system, and it has never let me down.

Well the first thing I do is create a template/structure'framework of how I want to proceed and to prevent myself from procrastinating I would fixed a specific timeline for each section and make sure that i stick to the timeline, then after that I would just go on writing and start from any section I feel m,ore familiar and comfortable with. After I wrote everything I would then polish my articles in-sync with the standard guidelines for that particular type of article.

There is a 'standard' process of writing and disseminating research findings. The most important part is the beginning part. It makes the rest of the process easier, helps to identify a timeline and strategy and is more likely to result in early success. For instance, clearly framing the research idea and question, establishing who your co-authors will be and what their role will be, identifying a timeline for drafts and submission and, very important, the critical 'homework' of identifying the most appropriate journals to target and noting their house-style to follow as the initial writing template.

After the project is finished and data collected, i start with statistical analysis. Having found some trends from the statistics, i make an abstract. I then gather all the relevant literature and read and then use the literature to identify the gaps and introduce my topic. With all the literature and my protocols, i make my materials and methods and write how i analysed my statistics. I then write down my results. I the use my results, literature and methodology to discuss my publication. Finally, i draw conclusions from the discussions and make recommendations

I believe the recommended steps by these distinguished researchers are good enough as a guide. However, each institution or publisher has their respective formats that every author must follow while submitting manuscripts. It is quite essential to adhere to the instructions so stated.

You need to start by identifying what you want to write about and make a sketch or map of what information you intend to pass across to the reader. Thereafter begin to source for the information you need to put into the various aspects of the article you are about to write, then begin to write, edit, and edit again until you have the final copy of your article for reviewers

Most Important point is to Create an outline: Creating an outline is the process of organizing your thoughts and what you are going to say. Doing so will make it easier to write your paper. You'll be able to identify areas that need more research or thought or may no longer fit with your paper - and make those adjustments before writing your paper.

I mostly try to follow the same sequences as Dear Len stated nicely. I do like to avoid to miss any details, record even any statement before it vanishes !!! Write with any style in any section. I focus more on the abstract, conclusions and recommendations, of course the title should take its time as it's the main gate to the work ,,,

The step no.1 is select smart topic and specify questions that you will response in your paper, and then select the methodology that match this questions and aims

I usually start with literature review to better refine my research question and population of interest. Then, I start developing my method(s) section. Once data collection phase is done, I enter resutls in tables and figures then I move to write discussion and conclusion sections highlighting the most important outcomes, limitations, and recommendations, if any. 1. I do always focus on abstract and conclusion which should be perfect because most of the reader are attracted by these two sections. The steps to make it perfect is already given in most of the answers above.

2. Next thing is introduction part here I make an big story of what is required currently and how i am going to overcome the problem to find the solution.
