I do appreciate that the world has changed and that putting the student in a room with pen and paper (essentially fending for themselves) is no longer the standard fare. But are we losing something of value?
This is the reason I pose the question: When I enrolled in karate, I wanted to teach at the earliest opportunity. To be able to do that required the grade of black belt. I found the ideal way to expedite the process: go to every grading class (even if it is not your own) and join in. This worked for one simple reason: I was training with a class that were performing at a higher level than usual.
So this is my view: EXAMS ARE ACUTE PERIODS IN OUR LIFE WHERE WE LIFT OUR GAME. Does its absence impact the students' ability in the working world?
