Given China's penetration into the cultural, economic and political life of Western countries, they are highly vulnerable to Beijing's pressure and influence. Governments may prefer not to lose business with China and let it go further.
China has moved from technical animals to economic animals with excellent logistics, exceptional customer service, stunning speed in the delivery of goods and services, and a technological ecosystem type of agribusiness cooperatives. The judicialization of the economy has been wiped out, and the concept of intellectual property minimized, although Chinese universities are by far the most patent producers in the world. It seems certain that intellectual property destroys economic dynamics and ends with tax collection. The judicialization of everything in the West is destroying public accounts and exterminating companies. Therefore, China has become an example to be followed. If you want to make money, what is left for us Brazilians, invest in electronic commerce and marketing, exceptional customer service and more value added at a lower cost. Hire accountants, lawyers and dispatchers with maximum ability to defend themselves from the judicialization of everything, with maximum speed, and treat the client as if it were your baby who needs care and attention. Let's earn money. The rest is bullshit. In this video, the interviewee who spent 3 years in China, says that when he returned to New York City, the US financial center, he felt like he was facing a primitive place. In China practically no money is used and all the cards are debit with no annuity. Forget politics and get down to business. https://youtu.be/2Wm_Lew0kME
Will our education system, based on liberal values and economics, actually collapse? A long time away perhaps. Nothing lasts forever, but then another type of education will replace it. Everything at the behest of a centralised state, perhaps?
What if, in response to China's hoped-for hegemony, other countries develop blocs. and we get into competition between ever larger states as in 1984?
Luiz Alberto Luz de Almeida, RE: "How will the plain field of competition shape the future of West when our educational system collapse?" Thanks for the interview with Scott Galloway interviewing Clay Shirky back from China reflecting on the Cell-phone market of China compared to the USA. Its interesting to hear international perspectives. I've cultivated different friendships with Chinese & international acquaintances over 50 years. 'Education' from the Latin 'educare' means 'to-lead-forth-from-within'. Unfortunately hierarchal colonial education everywhere tries to behaviour-modify force-in from without & hence we have dumbed-down generations of youth to cogs in our system including high-tech. Education was never meant to be indoctrination left or right, but a period of each youth's introspection & self-reflection in addition to public-engagement. Worldwide all humanity's 'indigenous' (L 'self-generating') ancestors facilitated adolescents in a period of 'Vision-Quest' in order to find their gift for 'community' (L 'com' = 'together' + 'munus' = 'gift-or-service'). https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/structure/8-vision-quest-education One of the best opportunities is to provide choice for youth to pair with professional mentors in the disciplines of their choice. Apprenticeship in life's laboratory with a one-to-one mentor, provides learning at about 100 times the rate of classroom box learning. Theory should always be tested before adoption. Adults need youths to refresh their minds & youth need to be able to successfully give in a system. Youth in apprenticeship have power because of the value of their physical & mental creation, whereas in our 'Dumbing-us-down' institutional education system are merely pawns in a cruel game of mind-control. Typically youth once having identified the life's vision would engage in Production-Society-Guilds in apprenticeship to Masters & a whole Guilds who would help the individual achieve their vision within their livelihood economic activity & community service. Everyone was a progressive owner across one's lifetime. Indigenous societies had true ownership, unlike our hierarchal oligarch submission systems. https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/structure/4-apprenticeship-education
THE PROBLEM OF TOP-DOWN OLIGARCHY IN TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT
The USA is a very top-down oligarch owned systems through the Finance-Media-Religion-Education-Military-Industrial-Legislative-Complex. Unbeknownst to most, colonial oligarchs have been running the ship of state & economy for western empire colonies in an unbroken stream for 7000 years through their metal-coin-money behaviour-modification command & control. Few have read the record how Columbus was on a Slaving Expedition in 1492 & so violently kidnapped possibly 1000 1st Nations from Hispaniola Island in the Caribbean of which 500 survived to be shipped in chains back to Seville Spain. I live in Canada but have lived & worked in California & Idaho as well. 'Democracy' has always been an oligarch myth, when ownership in our monetary US-Federal-Reserve, Bank-of-England, Bank-of-International-Settlements, World-Bank & International-Monetary-Fund system is privately controlled by Windsor, Rothschild & Vatican. Our politicians & bureaucrats are 'selected' through the financing of oligarch trickledown moneys. It 'takes-money-to-make-money' & 'Its more who you know rather than what you know' so private initiative just follows 'dumb-money'. The average US, Canadian, NATO, Israeli worker is simply a pawn in this top down hierarchal 'exogenous' (Latin 'other-generated') system, hence the graphs of "pessimism" shown in the video are very high in the west. As far as a viable biosphere-based technology, which won't destroy Spaceship-Earth's climate control system & enable all its crew species, there is next to no collective intelligence happening In the USA. The USA is simply the last disposable-empire for oligarch monetary & military aggrandizement. The western colonial oligarchy is much larger & much more detached than in China, but China itself & its false 'co-operatives' (originally 'co' = 'together' + 'operatives' = 'stakeholders') failed.
ECONOMIC DEMOCRACY
In the west there are no successful Multistakeholder ownership co-op examples. I've worked in Co-ops in design, management & innovation over 30 years to realize that one-member/one-vote does not represent the contributions & knowledge of diverse stakeholders & hence the demotivation of all. Originally 'co-op' referred to progressive ownership in the once 'indigenous' (Latin 'self-generating') Guilds & Production-Societies, where every person was an owner in their specialized guild area of production or role as a Founder, Worker, Supplier & Consumer. The collective intelligence of 'Economic-Democracy' provided the foundation upon which Political-Democracy is founded as a subset. I helped bring a Pulp-&-Paper Union together with management to implement multi-stakeholder investment, board-representation & management during the 1970s in British Columbia. With invested interest all stakeholders at all levels pull-together from their particular expertise improving productivity in every department.
Wall-Street & Federal-Reserve Schiff manipulated the Russian falsely called 'revolution' by financing the violent Trotsky with millions of 1917 US dollars. Germany's Warburg collaborated in this manipulation to finance Lenin with millions of 1917 dollars to hijack a very strong Russian 'community' (L 'com' = 'together' + 'munus' = 'gift-or-service') movement into violence. Lenin & Trotsky imposed hugely inefficient co-ops upon Russia, which quickly failed on many levels, hence the agglomeration of many co-ops into state-controlled bureaucratic entities for greater economies-of-scale, which also failed given the lack of intelligent participation. Read Antony Sutton on Wall-Street & the Bolshevik Revolution for documentation. I lived with Russian Dukobour, German-Mennonite & English-Quaker co-op communities over the 1970s decade so as to become aware of their strengths but also their underlying colonial chauvinism to have invaded & never recognized the indigenous peoples which armies had genocided for them. Unfortunately these so-called 'pacifist' communities lost the opportunity to understand integrated biosphere & participatory human economic development by rejecting the 1st Nations who repeatedly offered them assistance. https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/structure/3-economic-memory
Unfortunately this failed bureaucratic co-op system was passed on to the Chinese, who have as well abandoned it. Chinese tradition has carried through but it does not represent a collective intelligence nor the development of integrated life-enhancing technologies. Technologies 'toys' like 'cell-phones' are fun but we have to ask ourselves the deeper questions about the whole system in which we live & work. Are the microwave-facilitated communication technologies causing massive cancer & tumour formation across billions of people?
In our top-down institutions we are not told the truth about our indigenous heritage such as the worldwide 3-dimensional Polyculture Orchards cultivated by 99% of our ancestors, which provide 100 times (10,000%) more food, materials, energy & water-cycle from any given area than 2-D 'agriculture' (L 'ager' = 'field'). China through its own rejection of its indigenous heritage as well as ourselves, destroyed indigenous Polyculture & created massive deserts. Empire is based in scarcity, even as we indoctrinate ourselves as to the opposite proudly declaring our superiority & basing our whole economy on a failed 2-D system of perpetual slavery. The canopy of trees with all sub-layers photosynthesize 92-98% of solar-energy, which draws warm-moist ocean winds inland where 60% of moisture transfer is through condensation on trillions of square kilometres of fractal leaf-&-bark surfaces. Tree roots descend as deep as the canopy to pump-water, mine-minerals & develop extensive life-based nutrient-colonies. 2-D agriculture only photosynthesizes 2-8% of solar energy. Agriculture's roots are only centimetres deep & the reflection of ~90% of solar energy pushes winds from continent to sea creating permanent desert all across colonized lands in China, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia & the Americas. https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/design/1-indigenous-welcome-orchard-food-production-efficiencies
PARTICIPATORY BUSINESS
In the 1970s, I had the opportunity to bring an indigenous multistakeholder participatory system of ownership to a network of Pulp-&-Paper Mills in British Columbia which included separate Associations for Founders, Workers, Suppliers & Consumer investing participants. Since the 1970s a group of us who were leading the Fed-up Natural-Food-Co-op-Network of BC formed an indigenous economy study group to find alternatives to the province wide co-op we had created but was failing to motivate participants. I've researched most of humanity's worldwide indigenous 'economy' (Greek 'oikos' = 'home' + 'namein' = 'care-&-nurture') systems of the 100 person Multihome-Dwelling-Complex, Production-Society-Guilds & String-Shell time-based equivalency accounting systems. Participatory companies are the most productive, profitable & environmentally performing companies in the world because of collective-intelligence.
In China the String-shell (Cowrie) was called Bei-Bei & used universally in Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia & the Islands. In the USA & Canada a manufactured Quahog shell was split, drilled & lathed into Wampum. In South-America, the Quipu of the Inca was used continentally. With the ownership of every person in their own discipline of contribution. I work with Roberto Zuazo an Aymara, Jammamadi, Apurina elder from Brazil's Amazon on heritage compilation. https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/relational-economy
BRAZIL's INTEGRATED BIOSPHERE & TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
Before violent colonial invasion, these indigenous systems were 'fractal' ('building-block, multiplier where the-part-contains-the-whole' worldwide. What violent colonization has intentionally & forcefully induced through genocide & appropriation is a massive amnesia for all humanity's 10s of 1000s of years of successful 'spaceship' stewardship. Huge sections of Brazil's once thriving Polyculture Orchards are now degraded into desert, drylands & savanna where soil washes away relentlessly to clog up the once deep Amazon river channel. Brazil is a place which still has some memory of its indigenous participatory economy & educational systems, where technological developments can be re-integrated into biosphere based productivity. Technology is an extension of the human-body & mind, so it can only be fully realized when people themselves are in the pilot's chair of spaceship earth.
You may be interested in Indigene Community's software for a multihome-dwelling-complex community economy program called 'Do-we-know-who-we-are-?' Neighbourhood, web-based, open-source, open-data, community-economy software is about bringing 'economy' (Greek 'oikos' = 'home' + 'namein' = 'care-&-nurture') back to its roots in interdisciplinary, intergenerational, critical-mass, economies-of-scale, female-male collective multihome. Why do those trying to innovate economically know so little about humanity's worldwide universal long 100s of 1000s of years of economic practice? 'Do-we-know-?' reflects indigenous human resource traditions, in developing software for neighbourhoods to create websites with online Human Resource Catalogues HRC, Resource-mapping & accounting in Community, Contribution, Investment & Exchange Systems CCIES.
Having fought a war with China in 1962, the border disputes in the North East still simmering, with the BELT road project assuring China of greater penetration, with China supporting Pakistan in all its endeavours, India neither fears China nor believes that its educatioal system is about to collapse. Perhaps the West would do well to enquire into the reasons why it is so.
This is also something that precisely eludes me, unless the researcher thinks that the rise of China will bring about a collapse of all the instituitions of the West, including that of education. "The rise of China and the future of the West" seems to twin these issues, unless I am gravely mistaken.
Luiz Alberto Luz de Almeidar, RE: Does "Judicialization of business (mean) the end of Western civilization."(?) I'd like to take this excellent argument about 'the-problem-of-legal-harassment-of-product-&-process-developers' (judicialization?) by wealthy-lawyered economic-parasites in the opposite direction. Let's return 'justice' back to its worldwide 'indigenous' (Latin 'self-generating') 'COUNCIL-PROCESS' standards.
During 'exogenous' (L 'other-generated') colonization, invaders at the behest of oligarch financed commanders, divided & conquered in order to command & control populations, territories & colonist-occupiers. Part of this despondent paranoid pathological oligarch control was over the judicial process through centralized courts, judges, lawyers & enforcement police/soldiers, where in effect, the wealthy are always able to buy influence & decisions (It hasn't gotten any better).
THE ROLE OF MULTIHOMES IN JUSTICE ETC.
Originally under all humanity's indigenous heritage, Council-Process was part of 'Dialectic-Rights' enjoyed by every person in every relationship, for the individual & collectively among friends, family, ~100 person Multihome-Dwelling-Complex, Village, Region, Nation, Confederacy, continental & hemispheric councils. The first 'fractal' ('building-block') of human organization after: friends, the family & extended-family is the multihome where critical-mass, economies-of-scale, female-male interdisciplinary & intergenerational collaboration takes place with privacy & in proximity. The 100 person or 32 dwelling Multihome is the average size for the 70% of people today who live in multihomes worldwide, with an equivalent economy in the USA or Canada of 1 million $ (in poverty) up to 50 million $. It is at this critical-mass cataloguing & specialization of diverse human talents, in which all humanity's indigenous ancestors stayed strong. Among 100 persons would be a specialist or a cognizant of law trained in these common day-to-day processes of loving accepting inclusive human engagement.
When issues come up as they always do, both positively & negatively, in human-relations, any affected individual could ask for Council-Process. Typically a challenge to Council involves a written statement, usually a couple of paragraphs declaring the issue to be explored & suggestions for meeting-place, possible dates, time & duration. One may positively or negatively ask for 'dialectic' ('both-sided-dialogue') collaboration in research as well as in conflict-resolution. The respondent answers with typically a short couple of paragraphs resuming their position, agreeable date, time & duration.
ACADEMIA: Today in our colonial legacy, there is no distributed dialectic-process among ourselves. School 'debates' (French 'de' = 'undo' + 'bate' = 'the-fight') are typically upon issues, not even chosen by students. Socrates founded 'Academia' in the Athens outdoor 'garden-of-Academus', whereby citizen literacy was meant to be founded upon Dialectic-Rights & debate engagement. As a pacifist & even vegetarian, Socrates was responding to the Greek empire's Sophist schools of hierarchal war-process command & control indoctrination. Although we glorify Socrates & demean Sophistry, guess who won that battle?
JUDICIAL-PROCESS did not begin as a tool for exogenous parasites to milk a system & destroy creativity as I believe Luiz Alberto is alluding to as the precursor to the end of western civilization. Justice is a universal process for human-collaboration, which was stolen by colonial oligarchs. So rather than shy away from judicial-process, all our indigenous heritage on Council-Process, would have us fully engage each other at all levels in formal 'Both-sided, equal-time, recorded & published dialogues', where we strengthen our citizen-literacy & economic life. Part of oligarch control in our divided & conquered individually isolated lives is to control all critical-mass economies, yet they don't judicially control the multihome where 70% of us live today. It is in the multihome, that innovators & developers have very interesting 'economies-of-scale', where new ideas can be collaborative & prototype developed without wealthy-lawyered-parasites intervening. The more multihomes which engage in this process, then the greater our critical-mass economies.
BOTH-SIDES-NOW, EQUAL-TIME, RECORDED & PUBLISHED (or confidential) Dialogues is a simplified format for individuals to use in hosting a debate. People may say anything they want but are exposed in 'reputation' or the public record. A good cell-phone mounted on a table or tripod can capture the needed time as video or audio record. During 90 minutes both sides have 45 minutes to speak. Its suggested that people speak in shorter few minute segments so the other party may respond. While speaking one starts one's stop-watch (found on most watches) cumulative timer & then has the floor. When finished one shuts off one's timer & the other person responds doing the same. When both sides have used up their 45 minutes then the record is copied & issued to both. A mediator may help with technical issues or refreshments & providing each speaker with pen & paper to take notes, but is not required for those who become experienced. Formal dialogues as distinguished from the regular 'idle-chatter' most of us are used to, is essential for our innovation, collaboration & economic success as 'communities' (L 'com' + 'munus' = 'gift-or-service'). https://sites.google.com/site/indigenecommunity/structure/both-sides-now-equal-time-recorded-dialogues
I think robotics will greatly change the situation in the labor market and, accordingly, in education, in all countries, including China. It can be assumed that China and some other countries will lose such advantages as cheap labor, and less social state (when less rights of wage workers and citizens give an advantage to the economy in a whole). It is also hard to predict, will the rase of computer technologies complicate theft of foreign technology, commercial secrets or simplify it - even if real artificial intelligence never arises, the role of hackers (and their ability to steal something) may decline.
As you can see from this project that I am currently developing with graduate students, the synthetic serendipity and automated synthesis of everything in science and technology, can already replace millions of scientists and engineers that are working at less complex functions in research and development.
Synthetic serendipity, which we may call it as artificial intelligence as a general term, can do things at Nobel Prize level:
“A.I. Learns Nobel Prize Experiment in Just 1 Hour!”
https://youtu.be/lJcGzmsLRUo
We can then say that not only manual labor will be executed by robots eliminating cheap labor, but we can eliminate the work of people very well trained in technical work. This means that the competitive edge of developed countries, based on intellectual property, is going down quickly.

AI writing bots are about to revolutionise science journalism: we must shape how this is done
The AI writing bots will be helping to write the book:
Chronicles of the Impossible: Fluid Scenarios on the Horizon of Future Events
“It’s time for the science journalism and PR communities to wake up to the opportunities and threats posed to their professions by the recent explosion in the progress of artificial intelligence. Over the past few months, I have spoken to experts in the world of AI and journalism, as part of my Knight Science Journalism fellowship at MIT. Two things struck me as especially surprising. One is just how close we are to AI bots that can both write and edit the science stories that most science journalists and science press officers make a living out of writing and editing. This technology is available, but so far few have thought to apply it to science. This is about to change.
The second surprise was just how few science journalists are aware of the potential of AI bots, or take an interest in them. My colleagues on the KSJ fellowship have made light of the issue by joking that my project will kill off their jobs. But here’s the thing: similar projects will inevitably soon revolutionise much of science news reporting, and likely eliminate entry-level jobs the community relies on as a first step into the profession. So what is happening, and what should science writers be doing about it?”
Tatalovic, Mico. "AI writing bots are about to revolutionise science journalism: we must shape how this is done." JCOM: Journal of Science Communication 17.1 (2018): C1-C1.
Do you think that the change in legislation in the field of intellectual property will somehow affect the situation with the AI bots? This topic is about judicialization of business, and it seems that you have some ideas for changing legislation in the field of intellectual property.
What I am hypothesizing is the result of increasing chances in AI productivity in all areas of knowledge. Innovations will occur at such a rapid pace that the concept of intellectual property will gradually lose its meaning. It seems this phenomenon will occur faster than what we expect.
China has shown restraint and patience, for me the american dollar as the fiduciary coin, is bad news for the people from the South hemisphere and Asia. China propposed years ago an internacional coin to be used by the states (central banks) not attached to only one country oscillatory moods. The idea did not prosper at the moment. It will appear again and better Brazil reconsider the propossal carefully. Turkey felt what dollar dependency can do if the memmory of similar disasters is lost.
In July 1993, the Chinese government enacted the "Law on Scientific and Technological Progress of the People's Republic of China", which defined the scientific and technical objectives of the development, its role, sources of funding and system of encouragement. In 1995, the government formulated the strategy of "the rise of the state in science and education". It included adherence to education as a fundamental link, linking science, technology and education to economic and social development, enhancing the scientific and technological capacity of the state to become productive force
Since 1978, China has sent over 400,000 people to complete their studies abroad, and a quarter of them have returned to the country after completing their studies and have become a backbone of science and technology.
For almost a decade, high-tech research has risen to a global level in nearly 60 percent of its space.
China has made major strides in inventions, education, infrastructure, technology industries, academic publishing and commercial applications, and has become a leader in some of them.
China's total scientific research and development spending in 2012 was nearly $ 164 billion, but still below the 2 percent of GDP, as planned. That year, the United States spent about $ 447 billion, or 2.8 percent of GDP, on R & D. The Chinese plan to overtake the United States in that spending by 2022.
We can not say that education system is in collapse. However, as a result of my observations, I go to the conclusion that in the world, unfortunately, there are countries that work against education, development, justice and order. These are Russia, Iran and international terrorism. They work with hidden ways too.
