The curie constant for a single spin must be C = 0.375 emuKmol-1. But we obtain C = 0.04 emuKmol-1. this is nearly 10 times lower than what we expect! Resulting in a 3 times lower magnetic effective moment.
Things to take into account:
The sample displays paramagnetic behavior from 3-300 K.
The organic radical is completely pure
The sample preparation was handled with great care in the glove box
Silver capsules were used as sample holders (we measured the Magnetic susceptibility of the capsules and nothing was observed)
The sample is crystalline and measured in solid state.
All calculations were checked several times.
Ruling out the calculation and purity issues, what else could cause this sample to have such a low magnetization? any references are welcome.
Thanks
