The discussion here will be essential and vital for thermal insulation in different climates.
It is agreed that thermal insulation protects from the heat of summer and the cold of winter, but the question is: should it be from the outside or the inside?
To my knowledge, in a stable climate where temperatures do not differ between morning and evening, exterior thermal insulation would be better. However, some opinions say that the insulation inside or outside will give us the same results.
The question here is about thermal insulation in a climate where the temperature changes extremely between morning, afternoon, and evening, such as the desert climate, which is very hot in the morning and freezing at night.
Is it preferable to have thermal insulation from the inside or the outside?
Thermal resistance is the same, of course, but good enough insulation which usually has low density and heat capacity, should be placed OUTSIDE (with no slits or cracks!), so heavy, high heat capacity materials (e.g. bricks or concrete) should be inside to help to maintain stable indoor temperature.
