As a nephrologist, I have attended many cases of nephrolithiasis secondary to hypocitraturia in my clinical practice ..... It's just an impression or the incidence of kidney stones by hypocitraturia is growing around the world?
I don't have any data to confirm your impression. However, hypocitraturia is frequent in nephrolithiasis secondary to metabolic syndrome (MS) and the incidence MS is increasing worldwide. I wouldn't be surprised if your impression is true.
I agree with your answer .... I believe that, like chronic kidney disease (CKD) , kidney stones will become a public health problem due to its increasing incidence with hypertension, diabetes and metabolic syndrome (MS) worldwide
we have done study to prove that this metabolic syndrome associated with Nephrolithiasis is due to Hypocitraturia has has been sucessfully controled with Potassium megnesium citrate.and Vit B-6 prophylaxsis
