I am convinced that the percentage of scientific misconduct is low and it does not mean the end science. The fact that such cases come to light is already a good sign that the self-regulation of science is working. That estimate, 3%, is Pollyanna. A cancer researcher pulled 20 articles from top-tier journals, like, Cell and Nature. Sixteen could not be replicated. Only four of the twenty authors responded to his plea for help in replicating their claims. Of the four, two were able to repeat results, but the significance and power of the test results were found to be zero.

With that said, a three percent error rate is absurd on its head! In other words, would you have me beleive only three in a hundred research efforts turn out to be a failure! Naw, it's the other way round, where the failure rate exceeds successes in research, virilly.

I would say 3% of scientific reports being false is poppycock!

Fraud and misconducts in sciences are serious problems and by now they have impacted all. Fraud in sciences has domino effects, just think of those people who cite retracted papers, knowing nothing about retractions in case,

Also we have people who they themselves show off to be against frauds and misconducts in sciences, but at the same time do unethical actions in sciences!

We have people who sell papers and theses online...

Also so called professors (all over the world) that make students write papers for them!

And there are many other forms of frauds in the world of academia
