Hello everyone. My name is Azur and I preparing PhD about the effects of goalball game on spatial orientation of visually impaired persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Has anyone researched this area? Thank you
I found a mention about spatial awareness that used goalball as an example in chapter 2 of the book "Physical Education and Sports for People with Visual Impairments & Deafblindness" by Lieberman, Ponchillia, and Ponchillia (2013, AFB Press).
In that chapter, there's a reference to Ponchillia, P.E. (2008). Non visual sports and art: Fertile substrates for the growth of knowledge about brain plasticity in people who are blind or have low vision. In J.J. Rieser, D.H. Ashamed, F. Exner, & A.L. Corn (Eds), Blindess and brain plasticity in navigation and object perception pp. 283-311). Hillsdale, NJ: Lawrence Erlbaum.
a very interesting work is done by 'American Printing House for the Blind, Inc.' especially the work of Lauren Lieberman and her colleagues. Hello Azur, I think this article will be interesting for you: Chao-Chien Chen (2012) Orientation and mobility of the visually impaired in a blind baseball training method Journal of Physical Education and Sports Management, Vol. 3(2), pp. 20-26, February 2012 Available online at http://www.acadjourn.org/JPESM.See also: VISIONS Newsletter.Sports and leisure through the eyes of individuals who are blind or visually impaired.
