I'm making a coin cell battery using NCA as cathode and Li metal as anode. I connected it to check the electrochemical performance but during the first cycle it broke and discharge capacity appears zero. What should I do to avoid this problem?

There are various reasons that can lead to short-circuit, but the most straightforward solution is to re-assemble battery cells. Make sure you properly align the electrodes, separators, and current-collector plates so the two electrodes do not touch upon compressed. You can ask any experienced researchers in your lab to supervise you while you are assembling batteries.
