In my opinion, this is due to several reasons such as: weakness of  educational system, low quality teachers, lack of confidence of the people with teachers and educational system, changing mind of children and excessive care of parents.

The weakness of  educational system , more than 60 student in a class, as well as the poor qualification of the teachers ...etc

Sometimes i have this thinking as well. One more thing is the kindergarten, i was thinking i will not register my kids as at my time there is no kindergarten. BUT later on, i registered for him as it became compulsory.

Based on this point of view, shall we give them the same pocket money as our time, hahahah

In Iraq, the education system is deteriorated too much because of many wars, so the parents take the position of the teachers.

Every parent must be a teacher assisting their children to learn...helping them hit the loosened nails in their homeworks. Parents do this to set the tone for their children in knowing the real essence of hardwork and dedication to academic studies.

I think our parents were not highly educated but they trained us to be independent and not too spoiled. nowadays, the parents are educated but tend to do everything to their kids including helping in them in their homework and remind them of their assignments. so it is matter of changing mentality. my advice is 'do not rescue your child from a challenge. teach them how to face it'.

There are many differences between old times and this time.the first difference was in old times our parents suffering from low educational levels or ignorance totally ,so we depend on our teachers as well as our work hard to teach in our education, on contrast with our situation now where the parents scientific level was superior than teachers level .The second difference was the excellent education system we study and graduate in ,whereas teachers now a time graduate in poor educational system and as a result they suffer from lack of knowledge which led to the lost of confidence in our chilidren,s teachers and depending on our selves to teach them.

What after they make it to 99.99% and get to so-called Top Schools in the University?

Aren't we missing something(s) else that might matter a lot more than our current idea about "Education"?

Are they actually ready to work and be beneficial to themselves and their family? Do they even consider that (being beneficial) important ?

For my opinion, in the past we were thinking to be better of our parents in the future. Therefore, we was study strictly and not need any help from others. also, most of our mothers cant read or write.

Today, the main difference is the way of how spend time. Tv, mobile, internet, YouTube, PlayStation ect. these things take all them time.
