Adding taxa separates pterosaurs (lepidosaurs) from dinosaurs (archosaurs). Their last common ancestor was a Viséan basal reptile. Moreover, adding taxa clarifies relationships within Pterosauria, invalidated the Benton et al. pterosaur cladogram. Several pterosaur outgroup taxa, including Longisquama, Sharovipteryx and Cosesaurus, had filaments and extradermal membranes. These were omitted from this study despite their entry into the academic literature in 2000. Cladograms and links here: http://reptileevolution.com/reptile-tree.htm
