Focusing on the producer (1. Tier) of a supply chain, what are some interesting and possibly unconventional ways which you have in mind in terms of persuasion to foster sustainable practices?

For example small (or medium) scale farmers who are under economic pressure, why should they turn to more sustainable - and in this case, foster transparency - practices without seeing the economic value?

I think the advantages especially in the long-term dealing with sustainability are clear but my experience is that in practice; they are careful or averse due to missing awareness and therefore, it is hard if the economic effects are not realizable directly.

I would love to hear your thoughts about this!
