The usability of NFTs does not restricted to be a collectible digital art or asset. They can be used in other ways like user authentication. You can find many useful papers for that. If you need help with that let me know.

You said your focus is on "the reasons people buy or do not buy NFTs". But NFTs as art or collectibles is just the most visible tip of the NFT iceberg. If that is truly your goal, you could look at traditional art and collectibles (e.g., sports cards, artwork, tv and movie collectibles) and see the advantages and disadvantages of how a record on a blockchain indicating some control of an associated object or idea compares. But as has been pointed out, NFTs for provenance and record keeping, bridging parties that might not otherwise trust each other or agree upon a centralized third party is significant. That's why land records, identity, credentials tracking and many other use cases (tracking inventory, PPE, contracts, intangibles, and other business record keeping in a new, cross organizational environment) are looking at them as an amazing potential tool.

yes, I agree with you. It's not just the goal compare NFTs linked to art with traditional art. Its more about what people think about NFTs. If they understand that NFTs are not equal to the picture you see on you computer screen.

What I see is that a lot of people don't understand why they should buy JPGs. They don't know that NFTs are not restricted to digital art or they think that this connection makes no sense. So for example another idea could be to connect NFTs with realworld assets...etc. Or as you said treacking inventory, PPE....As you said there are other use cases that might be more suitable for this.

So if we come back to the "tip of the iceberg". Why are people buying NFTs linked to art if there is no value behind it? Do they think it is scam or do they think it is like art. This is what I want to know from people when they answer the survey.
