Increasing of the concentration of hydroxyl groups on the surface of activated carbon is mainly depends on oxidation phase and temperature. The literature has been showed that oxidation of activated carbon in the gas phase at high temperatures can increases especially the concentration of hydroxyl and carbonyl surface groups.
