I have a background of Mechatronics Engineering, My previous work is related to the piezoelectric material from last 5 years. Now, I want to further modify my field by integrating it with Artifical Intelligence or Machine Learning. I have few questions in mind: Is there any future of this field? In which areas this field can be further explored? What is the scope of this field?

the first topic that comes to mind is:
"Spatially distributed piezoelectric sensors (i. e. arrays) plus Machine Learning with the goal to recognize objects resp. object properties by touch."
This could be further integrated, e. g. in robotics: Handling objects dependent on their properties (hard / soft, light / heavy, etc.).
It's not exactly my field of expertise but I would be surprised if such approaches didn't have a bright future.
Always possible:
"Expert system giving support in designing with piezoelectric material."
Nearer to my experience (only a tactile user interface is a comfortable user interface):
"Multimodal user interface including tactile elements driven by piezoelectric actuators, controlled by an intelligent agent who emphasize the elements with the highest priority, depending on the state of the system and the state of the user." (E. g., if the fuel of the plane is scarcely enough to reach the next airport, and if the actions of the pilot bespeak panic, masked all unnecessary signals, and provide the necessary ones with calming firmness.)
i think if you view a piezoelectric material as transducer, its integration with Machine Learning can be applied to Robotics, Internet of things, and industrial automation.
