I am preparing to teach cultural anthropology to undergraduates this fall. One approach that I thought could increase student interest and involvement would be a course blog. Have any of you set up a course blog? What rubric did you use to grade student involvement? Any suggestions as I plan implementation?

This isn't a "how to" answer to your question per se, but I have had much success in having the students design rubrics for large projects as a class. I have been consistently surprised with their level of engagement and meaningful input on what should be graded/weighted. I have also had very few "grade questions" when using this method.
