Dear Sir I am working on a project evaluating availability of a milk plant by using petrinet. Kindly suggest a text book which would help me for modeling of the system
The greenbook has many ways to do such things. Dont decide ahead of time what method you will use. Study all methods in the greenbook :Reliability and Availability Engineering.
Handbook of Performability Engineering published by Springer Verlag London in 2008. It has 76 chapters and contributions from 100 authors and includes discussion on all aspects of Performability Engineering which include Quality, Reliability, Maintainability Availability, Safety, Risk , Sustainability, -their evaluation and design of sytems etc.
You can consult the book Reliability of engineering systems (Principles and Analysis) , by Ryabinin MIR PUBLISHERS MOSCOW. In this book you can read many engineering systems with and varies methods which are apply to study the complex systems. You can also consult Reliability Engineering by Balaguru swamy an easiest book for study system reliability basics parameters. Thank you for your quarry.
There is a chapter on SPN in my greenbook. But also look at my project SPNP software package as mentioned by Xiaolin Chang above. There is a large number of papers you find on my researchgate site where SPNs are used for such models. My bluebook and whitebook also conatin many system models using Petri nets and other methods. But the collection of real problems in greenbook is really unique.
Respected Trivedi Sir, How can i get the green book. As there is no financial assistance from the institute i have to be buy my own. So kindly suggest.
I agree with Prof Trivedi's advice to you that you should explore various approaches for your problem before embarking on application of your intended approach. I am attaching herewith the table of Contents of the Handbook of Performability Engineering which I mentioned in my previous communication just to provide you an overview of the associated areas. This I am doing for the sake of helping an institute where I implanted Reliablity Engineering in 1970s at your institute as Prof K.K.Agarwal was one of my Ph.D. students.
I am also sharing slides of my class (talk) on Petri nets. You can find a version of this talk on yutube as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V43izsrnKbw
Second edition of my probability book (that is available in India by John Wiley) also has a section on Petri nets in Chapter 8 and they are used in Chapter 9 last section also. The paperback Asian edition is inexpensive.
