Hello everyone. I've been using papain vials from Worthington to dissociate mouse dorsal root ganglia (DRG) neurons. (I also use L-cysteine, collagenase II, and Dispase in the same experiment).

The protocol requires 60 units of papain per sample to digest DRG. The product I use costs approximately $30 per vial, and recently I've been using a lot of vials and ordering them again frequently. So I was wondering if there is a substitute for papain for DRG dissociation.

If you know other enzymes that are also working well for DRG dissociation or if you know a papain product with a lower price, could you let me know? Thank you in advance.
