I am conducting research that attempts to shed light on the characteristics of one phenomena (let's say "love") in the experience of those who have undergone a specific experience (may it be "trauma"). My research material are life-stories collected by clinicians regardless of the research. Hence, the material is not in any way directed towards answering my research questions. That of course is both a pro and a con. The question is how to go upon, firstly formulating the question, and secondly analyzing the data in accordance? As my question above shows, I am deliberating between phenomenological approaches and grounded-theory.
