Up till now Google has had such a database, but its private.
Opencellid is collecting the cell information but it is registering User's Location and not the Towers' location, so I came up with an idea to develop an android mobile application that will record the tower information in a proper manner. I also downloaded and checked the opencellid.org data it is not consistent and not dependable.
The reason for developing this database can be used for in the following situations:
• To obtain the location in case of emergency situation even without GPS .
• To do Cell tower radiation hazard analysis.
• To do Cell tower coverage analysis.
• Crime Analysis and Culprit tracking.
What more situations that this database could be used in?
Has someone done this before, or are they currently doing it?
Correct me if I am wrong somewhere, I will update more details about mobile and web application later.
Yes sir,If you start open source data base for what purpose!!! how so much its helpful for the community?? and i thing institute of your start open database why not to start write and publish some paper about GIS!!! i don't know much more about this field,but i want to say some thing about GIS, I know little but GIS, if you could Please !!!

j.senthil Kumar sir purpose is mentioned in question and it will be very useful to community provided the database is complete right now i am doing this project individually and it will be hosted on my website as open source database . i am hopeful that people will join me .
