I have exported csv file from sogosurvey, however the free version doesn't allow other file formats, so i had to redefine survey questions into one name variables in excel, then use it in spss "import excel" instead of csv. Did i adopt the right approach?
My queries are as follows:
If you see the png, the display for multi response looks funny.
If I understand correctly, you have a check-all-that-apply independent variable and you'd like to create a stats-friendly spreadsheet. I recommend in Excel you: (1) Highlight all the cells for rows of participants under "computational analytics course." (2) Find & replace to change all the "C" cells to 1. (3) Find & replace to change all the empty cells to 0. (4...) Repeat the process for each checkbox column. Now you have a spreadsheet where 1=yes and 0=no for each independent variable, because, even though you're thinking of this as 1 independent variable, it's actually 4 independent variables (all yes/no for checked or not). Now import to SPSS and you can run a regression using your 4 independent variables to predict your outcome. If you prefer, you can do all of this within SPSS using "recode."
