I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the SECR method for estimating population density assumes that animals' home range centres are distributed according to a Poisson process, i.e. randomly.  Yet many published studies have used SECR to estimate densities of territorial animals, whose home range centres are very unlikely to be randomly distributed. Am I mistaken, missing something, deranged?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Thanks.
