I have 140 folders(AF01-35, AM01-35, BF01-35, BM01-35), each containing several face images depicting several emotions. I need to copy only the images which have a happy faces. The images are named in the following manner-"AF01HAHL" , where
A- which section(A or B)
F- Female
01- the subject
HA- Happy
HL- Half left, similarly FL-Full left, FR, HR, S- Straight are present.

You can get a list of the images in the whole folder
imgList = dir(myFolder);
and then go through the filelist looking for HA
imgList(1:2) = [];
N = numel(imgList);
for i = 1:N
if strcmp(imgList.name(i),'HA')
load...
end
end
You can even better results using regexp
