Hi Gianluigi, you can download a pdf of Retusidae and Co. in the WEB by Gruppo Malacologico Livornese. It is quite complete and accurated, even for those taxa which remain doubtful. It is not very good for pictures, which however fit perfectly the description or are from original diagnosis.
The link is: http://www.societaitalianadimalacologia.it/PDF/Coppini-2002.pdf
Ciao Danilo - Grazie per l'interessamento. Avevo già questo lavoro, ma il mio problema sono le Retusa del Mar Rosso (Isole Farasan in particolare). Grazie ancora, Gianluigi
I work on a book about mollusca from the Dahab region and I found 880 species. On many species I still have problems to find accurate determination. I have Retusa desgenetti, Retusa cf. mammilata ?, and a third species which may be perhaps R. tartuata ? (the parietal callus is rather prominent which I cannot find in the specimens in Bosch et al. 1995 or Singer 2014) or comes even close to some species of the genus Acteocina (Tornatina is considered a synonym in WoRMS).
The most recent literature about Retusidae from the Red Sea I know is:
SINGER B.S. (2014): Shells of East Sinai, an illustrated list: Bubble shells. – Triton, 30: 11-16.
It is more a faunistic paper than a taxonomical.
The following Retusa species are pictured and mentioned; R. desgenetti, R. mammilata, R. tarutana
Unfortunately, I do not have the following paper jet to check the original description of R. tarutana:
Smythe K.R. (1979). The Tornatinidae and Retusidae of the Arabian Gulf. Journal of Conchology. 30: 93-98.
I add a picture of the relevant page of Singer and my finds - better better pictures and discussions for my book are in preparation. And I would like to get comments on my finds also.
Dear Gianluigi I send to you a recent publication about micro mollusk of the Red Sea, are included also Retusa genus but if you want to know more about it can write to Lionello Tringali an expert of Bullomorpha.
