Many presidents in the Middle East in general and the Arab world in particular, assume power in general elections. But later on, they become dictators and remain in power for tens of years. They even change the terms and items of the constitution for their interests to remain ruling the country as if they are the only ones qualified to be presidents. Your comments are highly appreciated.
In my own understanding; I think when fame get too much into your head; and the love of power is over ruling you; you begin to act like a smaller god. A dictator; autocratic ruling and an aristocrat.
In addition to the lack of political socialization and awareness of peoples' civil and political rights, Western or super power countries help dictators stay in power as far as they serve and follow them.
To gain power and to be greedy is not unusual, unfortunately. They get to much support from Western countries without forced to change their attitude.
I think people of most of these countries are blamed for not resisting dictatorship or for not continuing their struggle against dictators. See what happened to the Arab spring (2011 revolutions) in Tunisia, Egypt and other countries.
