What volume of Chloroplatinic acid is required to form 10 ml of a solution in which it is 16 mM? The density of Chloroplatinic acid is 2.43 g ml-1, and its molecular weight is 409.81.
I really appreciate the help.
Dear Aparecida,
If you made 1.0 L of this acid @ 16 mM, this means you would need
16 mMoles x 409.81 mG/mMole = 6557 mG in 1 L.
For 10 mL (0.01L), you would need 65.6 mG.
The density of chloroplatinic acid (CPA) is 2.43 g/mL = 2430 mG/mL.
The volume of CPA contining 65.6 mG is 65.5 mG/2430 mG/mL = 0.027 mL.
0.027 mL = 27 microliters.
If you add 27 uL of CPA to 10 mL of water, the CPA concentration is 16 mM.
I hope this information helps you.
