I do not think real impactful research can be done by one person, especially these days where science is growing more and more complicated. It can be plausible for a review of the literature, but is very difficult for a high profile original paper.
I agree with Dr. Abushouk
It is very hard, or even impossible to conduct an original paper with high impact alone. You always need a team with members of different skills to be able to conduct all aspects needed for your project.
Depends on the field of work. I publish my paper individually as well as in group.
I would like to publish in group with contribution of ideas or work from each person of the group.
Depends upon the are of research and the topic one is handling.
If I am working on a multidisciplinary aspect, I must and I will collaborate and take the expert information from the person who is well versed in that stream.
