It is my understanding that a grid-tie inverter does not feed to the grid by way of increasing voltage. Grid voltage rises as the solar pv compensates for existing load (which causes voltage drop). Therefore the solar pv inverter appears to increase grid voltage but it cannot exceed the LV grid parameters. Is that correct, or do grid-tie inverters operate in a number of varying formats?

And what is about single-phase or 3-phase feeding?
Single phase at this point. However it is to a three phase grid. It is an AC connection. Sorry I should have clarified that.
The grid-tied inverter system can achieve decoupled power control with switching frequency reduction by keeping the grid-side current harmonics below the standards. The variety of intelligent controllers are available. That all controller minimises the number of switching state transitions required to control the grid-side current while
simultaneously constraining the harmonics distortions and protecting the inverter from overcurrent condition.
Put simply the inverter supplies electricity to the grid by offsetting its harmonics (frequency) rather than raising voltage. Is that correct? Do you have anything published on this?
The overvoltage and phase shift are real problems for real power nets.
The overvoltage depends on net configuration and wires and loads resistance.
The phase shift (low power factor) arises on high voltage side of 3-phase transformer in case of single phase inverter.
