Dear friends,
the output of my IR spectrometer are spectra in Galactic *.spc file format. Since I recently switced to Ubuntu, I need a good software dealing with this data format, which enables basic spectroscopic analysis etc., similarly to Spekwin 32 for Windows.
Do anybody have some suggestion?

1) Try to compile your .exe software to use it in Ubuntu; or
2) Use VirtualBox for virtualization machine of Windows OS
Can you use Matlab? The Bioinformatics toolbox supposed has a routine to read data from a SPC file, tgspcread. Otherwise, virtualization seems the most likely solution.
You can use Spekwin32 on Linux systems by using wine. It has been successfully done by some Spekwin32 users...
Bruker Optics has a very good software for their IR spectrometers.

I think you can use PyMCA developed by ESRF people. the link is http://pymca.sourceforge.net/index.html
I use it in fedora. To install it in fedora you type yum install PyMca may be for installing in ubuntu you need to type sudo apt-get install PyMca
Tried with Qtiplot, is similar to OriginLab http://soft.proindependent.com/qtiplot.html, here you can save data in Other formats moré flexibles
