I am preparing to run analyses that use a mean score per study instead of an effect size to see how scores have changed over time (hence doing a cross-temporal meta-analysis). I had intended in doing this via CMA software given its ability to conduct the meta-regression, etc. Is this problematic? I have seen others use SPSS or not mention software at all. When I run the basic analysis on CMA I do not get any forest plot or anything as expected. I know there are certain differences in terms of being weighted based on sample size and so on. Would love to discuss these analyses and how to complete them with someone with more experience!
You are also going to need to enter a standard deviation and sample size (or a standard error [SD/sqrt(n)]) in addition to a study mean. This is required in order to do the study weightings. See the attached JPEG file for how data entry would be set up in CMA.
You are also going to need a column in CMA set up as a moderator variable. It would be labeled "Year" or something like that.
