Is anybody aware of research, writing or thinking within sociology that has explicitly considered mereology and ontology? I would be really grateful for any assistance about these forms of understanding within the discipline. Thanks.
I´d recommend some of Mike Hulme´s work (e.g. 'Why we disagree about climate change: understanding, controversy, inaction and opportunity' published by Cambridge University Press in 2009) In addition it might be worth considering the American Meteorological Societies Journal 'Weather, Climate and Society' (http://www2.ametsoc.org/ams/index.cfm/publications/journals/weather-climate-and-society/) It usually employs a meteorological perspective but social implications (and occasionally even sociological implications) are also mentioned.
