In line with answers of Keith Jones , Konstantinos Karampelas and Jaspreet Kaur, I think that utilising social media in teaching and learning may witness many issues such as, the technical imbalance, and students’ use of it for non-study purposes.

I guess yes,but it would always be good see the same in the context of some academic papers where they have proven the same.I have a research paper on my page which deals with online purchase and social media .You can read it.

Interesting topic, article and response. As mentioned, planning is they key. Social media is a reality and education cannot ignore that. Appropriate planning can make it useful and not time-wasting.

In a recent project in which we studied children using digital tools in informal settings, we found that while the youngsters were ‘surrounded’ by technologies, they displayed some weak skills in using these as a means for learning. Obviously, Mohammed Hossni has a point. Learners' behavior and attitudes is always an issue.

Carefully planning should take that into consideration.

Great for class announcements and schedules. Great for discussions, however classroom etiquette rules have to be enforced and no trolling is allowed.

I do agree to some extent with Konstantinos Karampelas idea that plan in the is paramount if one is to use social media to promote technology usage for the purpose of learning. Apart from planning one need to be very selective in the type of social media to use basing on the category of students or learners he or she is addressing. otherwise the objective of the teaching and learning my not be achieved as expected.
