In the standard scientific methodology, researchers, stylometrists or statisticians, starts by formulating a hypothesis about an observed aspect from the field of study. The validity of the hypothesis is tested by experimental procedures. A hypothesis can be falsified, but it can never be proven to be true.
I would suggest that you might read Karl Poppers philosophic approach to the logic of scientific discovery:

I think your opinion is right if enough tests are performed on some domain of interest using different methods based on the patent physical-mathematical procedure and the results are always the same or hold true every time!
