I am also using the HFSS and a good agreement between the simulation and measurements is achieved. It is important to achieve a good measurd results to use the same connector model in the simulation and measurements.

CST Microwave Studio (last version).

CST and HFSS are good. However, the FEKO is provided freely by the vendors for a specific time period with technical assistance

CST works on FDTD while HFSS on FEM. FEM involves complex procedure of solving partial differential equations(PDE) as ordinary differential equations. I firstly computes pde for the feed (say coaxial) the apply the solution in the form of matrix to the patch's pde to make it a quite complex and time consuming operation. On the contrary, FDTD based CST is quite fast in its operation with nearly the same accuracy.

Choice is yours.

Working with software is not very important. Your structure is very important and your research field.

In our research field you should know how we can design one antenna at last in 2 or 3 software. For this reason,

First choose your research field if you want work about single element slot antenna hfss is the best.

But if your structure is complicated and has more than 3 or 10 radiation elements and you need design feed network for these elements you should work with ads, hfss and cst together.

I used IE3D software.

Hfss software will be very useful.

HFSS is good software regarding the Microstrip patch antenna and very eassy to learn HFSS. it is also provide the good agreement between simulated and measured result..

HFSS is a good option if you are a beginner in antenna design. And second option is you can use CST Microwave Studio. I suggest you to first simulate the model using HFSS and then verify the design using CST. Also, I will help you for this. You can email me your model at [email protected]

If you are aiming at fabrication of the slot antenna, your simulated results must be as accurate as possible. Especially you need to concentrate on the intersecting area of the feed with the patch structure wherein the return loss or S11 parameter depends on. I suggest you to go with IE3D where you have more evaluation components.

I use CST MW Studio. I've used other tools, but the CST has a friendlier interface, especially for three-dimensional modeling of the antenna.

You can use IE3D. I got very good matching between simulated result and experimental result

It depends on your design, If the structure is simple conventional microstrip patch with slot, you can use IE3D simulation software because it is very easy to learn and you can use it in few weeks. So for as the accuracy is concerned it gives very much accurate results with experimental one.

WIPL-D... they already have slotted antenna demo model, so you can see if it suits to you...

Use ADS or HFSS or CST Studio Suite whichever is comfortable you can use. CST is user friendly. ADS used to design microstrip like layout design. HFSS is more accurate.

Before doing any simulation read about conventional slot antenna .If u are designing for a specific wireless application. then look for some good research paper. once you finalize and understood the concept and design u can use any soft ware. IE3D, HFSS, CST........etc

You can use COMSOL Multiphysics.

You can use HFSS (based on FEM), IED (based on MoM) and CST MWS (based on FDTD).

Now most of the commercial softwares give quite accurate results.

I agree with Raimi, CST is the leader in the Antenna simulation software. This can be verified by the number of high impact articles published in CST. HFSS also from Germany are quite good. But ADS and others have not that much HIGH impact publications so far. CST also have support engineers to look into your design and give you the feedback about your circuit or duty design.

The best way is to design using CST microwave studio or HFSS. Both are easy to use. Where as CST will give you the results based on Finite Integral Method (FIM) and HFSS will give you the results based on Finite Element Method (FEM). A general perception is that FEM gives much more accurate results as compared to FIM.
