You are talking about openings on opposite sides so you can have cross ventilation. On the facade side you have the outside but on the opposite side you have a corridor.

So, is this corridor also connected to the outside? If not, you would only mix air between these two spaces. If yes, these two would renovate the air.

But this is only with natural ventilation. Without air conditioning system. If you have an artificial air system, you have forced air streams and nothing of the above would work.

Also, usually at hospitals you should have positive air pressure so the air is always coming out and never coming in.

Your case is one-sided ventilation. You need min the same areas of the total opening on both side of the wall for considering cross ventilation. You have 2 openings but one horizintal slot on opposite wall, it will not too effective to drive naturally the air out the room fast.

In my opinion, and assuming that this hospital ward is naturally ventilated,  this is cross ventilation if, and only if, the corridor has openings to the outside. The airflow rate is of course limited by the sizes of the openings, and the smallest opening in the flow path has the largest effect on this limitation. For example, if the facade openings are wide open and only small slots are open to the corridor, and from the corridor to the outside, single sided contravention may domine, depending on temperatue and wind conditions. But anyway, the ward will be more aired, on the average, if there are openings on both sides.

This system is often used to ventilate educational buildings in Switzerland.
