As LCP is passed through Q-plate, its polarization-SAM changes to RCP along with a
gain of OAM. Since total angular momentum is the sum of SAM+OAM, is the angular momentum conserved in this process?
Dear Dipti,
It is depend on the symmetry of the LC cell - if it is cylindrically symmetry your answer will be yes. But, in other cases the change of Angular Momentum induces a rotation on the cell and one would expect to see a rotation.
Cheers,
Ebrahim
Dear Karimi,
Thanks for this answer. In any birfringent system twisted by theta, introduces a rotation of 2theta to RCP/LCP. Whether it is true experimentally.
Nonconservation of angular momentum of photon takes place in which cases.
Bye
Dipti
