it really depends on your geometry and input source. Of course by using a quarter it will safe you a lot of time yet the actual problem should be well presented.
It depends on the shape of Pin. Also, due to the forward and backward materials flows surround the Pin, I suggest to consider a whole model. If you use ABAQUS or COMSOL Multi Physics, you will achieve reliable results.
Depends on tool geometry. Although it saves a lot of time making that assumption , always try to consider full geometry. consider finer mesh at tool plunging spot and coarser outside, which will save time . Sometimes results like material flow is difficult to read from your assumption. Alternatively you can consider 2D modelling also to save time.
